As some of you may already know, Saturday, November 8, 2008 the American Cancer Society will be hosting their annual Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk at Tempe Beach Park. Making Strides is a noncompetitive 3 mile walk and there is no registration fee and no fundraising minimum. What better opportunity is there to show our support and love to our dear friend, Michelle Wilsey? Please join us on November 8th and become part of Team Michelle. This is a family event for adults and children of all ages and strollers are allowed, so please invite your family and friends to help raise breast cancer awareness and show your support for Michelle and other women and men that have been affected by breast cancer.

You can join Team Michelle by going to the team website: http://main.acsevents.org/site/TR/MakingStridesAgainstBreastCancer/MSABCFY09GreatWest?team_id=344334&pg=team&fr_id=11680&et=6rOHzqzA81AMFqlaAMs0aw..&s_tafId=194094 and clicking on “Join My Team”. And if you are not able to walk or join our team, you can always show your support by making a donation to Team Michelle! Donations can be made on this website, as well. A donation of any size is welcome and any dollar we raise is a dollar more than the society had yesterday. One of the most attractive things about this walk and the American Cancer Society is that it is FREE to participate in the walk and there is not a certain dollar amount that any one has to raise. The No. 1 reason people say they don’t donate or get involved is because they were never asked!

Rather than wait for it all to fall out, Michelle along with the help of her wonderful boyfriend Jake, shaved her head. After Jake helped Michelle shave her head, he shaved his own head

This was very difficult for Michelle to do (as it would be for most women since hair is often one of the factors that defines beauty in our society); however, as you can see from the video below, Michelle is more beautiful than ever after shaving her head.

Thank you for visiting the TEAM Michelle website and please remember to leave your comments and support.

Hi Everyone!

Well it’s been a week since my first chemo and so far no complications have come up. I didn’t know what to expect out of my first chemo, but it was not nearly as scary as I thought it would be. The chemo nurses are very sweet and kind. I’ve gotten so used to being poked that I’ve gotten used to needles…lol!! Don’t get me wrong, I do not enjoy them, but I think if you have cancer you have to learn to accept them.

Let see…the first three days after my chemo I spent most of my time sleeping on the couch. Chemo wipes out all your energy so badly that just getting dressed was difficult for me. Thanks to my wonderful boyfriend Jake and my mother who both took great care of me.

Finally on the 4th day I felt much better and was able to stay awake for 10 straight hours before falling asleep. I do apologize to the guests that came over to visit me because I fell asleep while talking to them :) Just blame it all on the chemo! I’m hoping that my chemo side effects will remain the same and not get worst.

I still have hair! Even though this morning I lost 10 pieces! Yes I counted them…. So probably by next week you will all get to see my fun wigs. Now remember you may see me with long hair one day and a short little bob the next. I might as well have fun with it!

Again thank you for caring so much about me and for always thinking and praying for me and my family. I also would like to thank my wonderful friends Matt and Joleen for putting this website together for me, its help me out so much. Oh and thank you for all your funny jokes I really needed them!

Love, Michelle

So it’s been 3 weeks since my surgery and I’m feeling better and stronger each day. I’m still having a hard time with the pain and sleeping at night. I have been to many many doctors appointments in the last 3 weeks to make sure everything is healing good and so far so good. My drains were removed after 10 days of my surgery (very for happy to see them go). Last week I had a CT scan and bone scan to make sure the cancer had not spread through out my body and the CT scan came out clear (thank God)!!! The bone scan as well except for my left knee had showed somewhat to be abnormal so this morning I had another test done and I should hear back from my Oncologist by the end of the week on the results.

Not a big fan of it but I know it will be useful for chemo purposes. This Friday August 18th, I am scheduled for my first chemo treatment so please keep me in your prayer that day. I’m not looking forward to it. I will have 8 total treatments done. Once every other week for a total of four months. In between the chemo I will start working with Dr. Casey on my reconstruction. Once chemo is done, I will began my radiation. So as you can see my life will be a little hectic for the next 6 months or so.

All the comments, cards, phone calls and donations mean soooo much to me and I thank god every night for having you all in my life. I never thought I was going to be able to get through this but now I know that I can because of all of your love and prayers.
